In the blue sweatshirt with the welding mask: Jim Bryant! Yup, it's me. Born and raised in the glorious state of New Hampshire, United States, I used to be a race car driver. My gig was IndyCars, and for many years I sweated over big engines, hot asphalt, and racy girls. My pro career then moved to China where I introduced several large US companies like Pizza Factory and Subway. This is when I met the love of my life, and decided to make Beijing my permanent home. I got involved with ChangJiang motorcycles back in the mid-1990s, when my wife had the good taste to offer me a vintage sidecar to remind me of my good ole days. I was hooked, and the bug never left me. Over the years, I have restored and built more CJ 750 sidecars than I can shake a dipstick at. On the last count,we have delivered over 120 BMW powered Chang Jiang conversions. God blessed me, I love my job! My 100% Guarantee When you buy a CJ750 from my shop, you get a 100% guarantee: Your bike is reliable, you can ride it everyday and not worry about getting stranded on the roadside somewhere. We know the job. We do it well, better than anyone around, matter of fact. And we stand behind the quality of our workmanship. That's my 100% guarantee. Come visit us, and watch your bike being built.

gallery117This is an older Changjiang 750 that we restored. Our client is a die hard fan of the military, so here everything is consistent with the Second World War military look. We started out by stripping the bike down to bare metal, powder coated the frames, and painted the rest. We also added a rebuilt BMW R75/5 motor (also aluminum powder coated), which provides a wonderful accelerating power on road. Fun enough, in keeping with the military look, this bike also has the ammo cans and a Jerry can. It is bound to be the subject of many conversations. For maximum comfort, we mounted the seats, bike and sidecar with cowhide leather. In addition, we added at the far side of the bike a cowhide leather saddlebag for carrying objects.

gallery123And yet another military themed bike we built based on our client’s requests. It is powered by a BMW motor, which is aluminum powder painted for a fresh look. The bike has all the markings of a German World War II era bike. It is painted in panzer grey, an obvious war time feature. It has a machine gun mount, cool enough to draw attentions on road. It also features ammo cans and a jerry can. And we mounted to it a first aid kit. Notice that this bike has swept back handlebars, which extend the bike out immediately.

gallery113 This is my bike that I rode around the world. It’s a 1969 BMW R69S pulling a mid 70s Velorex Hack. But if you look at the motor, you will notice that it’s an R69S frame with a 1978 R100S motor with 5 speed transmission, and a later rear drive. With 70 HP this bike can cruise at way above legal speeds! Once I got to Beijing, the first thing I did was to replace the fiberglass Velorex sidecar for a bigger all steel Donghai sidecar. The Donghai Motorcycle Company produced a vertical twin 750cc motorcycle based on the British Triumph of the 1960s. To it, they attached a large all steel sidecar for the military. The company went out of business in the early 1980s and we were able to buy up all their inventory of sidecars. The sidecar itself, is larger than a Chang Jiang with a clam shell type opening trunk lid to pack more gear I fabricated exhaust system, and repainted the bike in our paint booth shop for a factory new look. In 2005, I rode this bike for a once-in-a-lifetime Trans-Eurasia adventure. I rode from Germany to Ireland, then Ireland to Beijing. Nearly 10, 000 miles of riding, this bike endured the test of all tough conditions, and took me to see interesting people and cultures along the rode. To read my blogs, and see pictures go to;<http://www.changjiangunlimited.com/Jim-IoM-Beijing.htm><http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64938&highlight=Trans-Eurasia>
